TOWER OF BABEL

3D Illustration

My own take on the Tower of Babel. The structure (corbels, machicolations, parapets, ...) is based on Pieter Bruegel the Elder's medieval version (1563).

This is a fantasy interpretation. If this tower existed, its shape would have been radically different. The origin of this mythical tower is probably the Etemenanki Ziggurat in Babylon (610 BCE). It was a 7 to 9 levels square shaped temple dedicated to the God Marduk, reaching 91 meters.

The scene was created from scratch using standard 3D polygon modeling.
